This figure shows information from a buffer being read into the SGA Buffer Cache and the Process PGA. The information being read into the SGA Buffer Cache is acquired either by a db sequential read or a db scattered read.

The information being read into the Process PGA is acquired by a direct path read. Sequential reads, scattered reads, and direct path reads are described in the text.
